Proper Germination of Cannabis Seeds

Before planting the cannabis seeds to your chosen grow medium, the process of germination is recommended. Wait until all the pot seeds will sprout and when they are already a few inches tall, you can transfer them into their new pots/boxes containing the medium of your choice or you can grow them in a hydro set-up.

Prepare all the things needed prior to seed germination and that includes the preparation of the working area. Before working on the ganja seeds, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Two of the most common methods of germinating marijuana seeds are: the paper towel method and seed germination in a cup. In geminating pot seeds using the paper towel method, you need a cup or small plates, tweezers, paper towels and distilled water.

The paper towel method is said to be the most reliable method of germinating pot seeds. Here’s how to do it:
– Get a few sheets of kitchen-type paper towels then moist it water, preferably distilled. Keep the towels moist but not too wet, then place the marijuana seeds. To avoid getting the paper towels very wet, use a sprayer for misting. Before you cover the weed seeds with another plate, remove excess water in the paper towels. Place the seeds in warm and dark room for proper germination.
– Check the cannabis seeds regularly and see to it that paper towels won’t get dry. To keep the towels moist, spray with water but do not overdo it. In about 1 to 2 days, the marijuana seeds will begin to crack and tap-roots will start to show. The seeds are ready for transplant into the grow medium once they have sprouted and reached at least 1 cm to a few inches tall.

Is it necessary to place the marijuana seeds in a warm and dark area during germination?
Yes, it is necessary to place the cannabis seeds in a dark room during the whole process of germination for the seeds to absorb more water. Keep the room dark and the temperature warm, about 66 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Why use distilled water in germinating the pot seeds?
Tap water may contain an amount of chlorine that can cause harm to the marijuana seeds. If you will be using tap water to germinate the seeds, let it sit for about 24 hours before using. It is recommended to use distilled water for germination so your pot seeds will be free from any chemicals or substances present in tap or kitchen water.
